I'm comfortabe using profanity if it's the way a character speaks or thinks. That's all part of creating a realistic character.

Sex is out, unless it's metaphorized. Most of the time, I don't even like reading sexy scenes, so a big 'no' to writing steamy.

There are people in my life I'd like to write about, but never do. If they ever found out about it, they would never speak to me again. Also, I would be fired for writing/publishing about the place I work in every day. Not worth it. Some awfully good stories there, though.

I try to write the possibilities of humanity and not the people I know although they might inspire a character or a mood or situation.

Your 'possibilities of humanity' idea has sent me down a most enjoyable rabbit hole. I still need the pen name though.

Good point about the people in your life! I've taken notes on a few of mine, but haven't written them in anywhere...

Stranger than fiction, some of them. A lot of note-taking, for sure!

Writing about real people would be a big NO for me too. That's why I write fiction.

Exactly right, Olga. I still think I need the pen name, though.
